Two Kinds of Men

“There are only two kinds of men in this world: Honest men and dishonest men. There are black men and white men and yellow men and red men, but nothing counts except whether they're honest men or dishonest men. Some men work almost entirely with their brains; some almost entirely with their hands; though most of us have to use both. But we all fall into one of the two classes--honest and dishonest.Any man who says the world owes him a living is dishonest. The same God that made you and me made this earth. And He planned it so that it would yield every single thing that the people on it need. But He was careful to plan it so that it would only yield up its wealth in exchange for the labor of man. Any man who tries to share in that wealth without contributing the work of his brain or his hands is dishonest.”

Ralph's Father died while he was just a young boy by today's standards, but this was one of many pieces of wisdom he passed onto him. Has your dad shared any wisdom that has impacted you in a special way? If so we would like to hear about it. Either post here in the comments or email us at redemptionrididgeretail@gmail.com

Organizing Tips From The Container Store

The Following is an article from the Container Store. We also have storage items and systems. Also check out our kitchen food storage items, utensils, and appliances. 1. Start in one place If you have several areas in your home you want to get under control, start with just one. You decide which one to start with — is it the area that gives you the biggest headache, or the area that guests to your home most easily see? Whatever your priorities, select one area and stick to it. Many attempts at organization fail when the task of cleaning up the entire house seems daunting and folks give up. When you complete one area, celebrate and then move on to the next. 2. Allow plenty of time Don't expect organization to happen overnight. Depending on the area to be organized, schedule a couple of hours each day to work on getting the area organized. Getting a garage whipped into shape will take more time than it takes to organize a linen closet. 3. Clean house Once you...

Reposted From Focus on the Family

When an unintended pregnancy interrupts the “script” a young woman has sketched out for her life, many conflicting emotions compete simultaneously for center stage: panic, fear, anger, guilt and more. The good news, which she needs to hear, is that God’s grace will meet her at her point of need, and His sufficiency will abundantly supply. One way He often does that – in fact, the most common way – is through His people. Pro-life pregnancy centers and medical clinics are on the front lines in many communities. They offer essential services to women facing an unexpected pregnancy, as well as an opportunity to discuss vital alternatives to abortion. Medical clinics offer pregnancy confirmation through ultrasound, which gives the young mother an opportunity to view the amazing development of her preborn baby. A woman’s family members and the father of the baby often struggle during this time, and pro-life centers present a safe place to deal with their own feelings and responsibilit...

Markups and Gluten-Free

I learned about a year ago that due to a rare genetic disorder I have that it would be best for me to be on a gluten free diet. There are other restrictions of course too, but this is one that more people are familiar with. At the time that I was diagnosed I was managing a community owned grocery store, so I had some first hand knowledge of how markups worked and what they were. Even before I was diagnosed it bothered me that a box of regular pasta would have a suggested mark-up of 20-35%, but the already more expensive gluten-free pasta would have a suggested mark-up of  55-80%. I realize that some people are on gluten-free as a fad, but there are some of us who really need to be gluten-free. It seemed immoral to me that just being gluten-free meant the wholesaler was suggesting that we have a higher mark-up. With approval from our community board I lowered markups on diet-specialty items to be inline with more mainstream groceries. This belief in fair and just pricing is someth...
